Nate tortures Brenda with evil thoughts about the baby being damaged goods.
Keith and David are in bed. Keith says he’s going to take his own money and buy out Rico so they can have the family house.
Maggie is in a doctor’s office. She gets a call from Ruth, who asks Maggie if she was with Nate the night he died. “Was he happy?”
Maggie says Nate was feeling that life was complicated, but that he was happy. “Good,” says Ruth. “Were you?” Maggie says yes, she was happy. Ruth says that’s good. She tells Maggie it helps. Maggie tells Ruth she’s sorry. Maggie hangs up.
Keith and David tell Brenda they’ll buy her out over time. Brenda says take your time, she’s got money from Nate’s life insurance.
Brenda shares new photos of the baby with Ruth. “She’s a very old soul,” Ruth says. Brenda says she can’t shake the feeling that something will go wrong with the baby’s health.
Ruth says motherhood is the loneliest thing in the world. Ruth tells Brenda Nate loved her best he could. But Ruth says to put everything behind and offers to help Brenda in any way. Brenda says thank you.
