Multiverse Asheville creates Facebook meeting place for local fan culture

Here’s the description posted on the Multiverse Asheville page on Facebook. There’s also a website planned. Right now, the Facebook page is proving to be a great place for locals interested in the upcoming Dragon Con in Atlanta to meet, plan rides, talk, etc.

For too long have members of Asheville’s fan community been scattered to the winds, finding and getting to know like-minded geeks only during the occasional film premiere or local convention! As a great man once said: “The line must be drawn here, and NO FURTHER!”
MULTIVERSE is the Asheville area’s premiere society for fan-culture, including gaming, comics, film, television, costuming, convention-life, and collecting!
With its comprehensive event calendar, coverage of local geek life, fan-created reviews of movies, television, games, and comics, and the area’s only web forums dedicated to our subculture, Multiverse is your hub for planning your geeking and interacting with other local fans!
Your favorite local businesses, events, and organizations are partnering with Multiverse to bring exclusive discounts and other benefits, including entire evenings of entertainment for members of the community!
If you would like to help us get started or contribute to content, events, or any other aspect of the project, WE NEED YOU! Post on the page, or send an e-mail to multiverseavl@gmail.com, and let us know what you can do!
Stay tuned for upcoming events; the “Beta” MULTIVERSE website and forums will launch late this week!

THANKS for the write-up! We're hard at work on the site, and will have it up very shortly. The Facebook page has exploded, which is a pleasant surprise, considering it was intended to just be a place to rally the troops for when the site is up.

The website will feature a comprehensive calendar of events for all fan-culture in the Asheville area, exclusive promotions and benefits from local businesses that cater to our subculture, and most importantly, a dedicated forum community for fans to interact, meet one another, and discuss topics like comics, gaming, costuming, conventions, and more!
