Seems everyone wants to talk about the quake. So let’s talk about the quake. But first, a shout out to the Ashvegas blogger bunch. I can’t say it better than mxmulder at 1000 black lines, who did a nice sampling from local blogs, who were on the quake quickly an with interesting comment. Go over to Blog Asheville and check it out.
Now, to what you’ve been saying:

-Well, I didn’t feel the quake. But of course I’m 3,000 miles away. haha. Being in California I have felt my fair share of these shakers.
Earthquakes are one of my many hobbies. I have created a special report for your quake. Feel free to check it out at the attached link. Leave a comment and let me know if the maps were interesting and/or useful
Thanks Brad! Cool report.

-It was a 3.8, fer cryin’ out loud. No need to “go Natalee” over little damage caused by a small temblor.

-Newsman you’re an idot. If WLOS had been on the air there wouldn’t be so many phone calls. WLOS doesn’t know and can’t handle real breaking news situations. They’re complacent in the lack of hard local news and panic when it comes to the real thing. You ask what the big deal is? If there were that many phone calls, someone thought it was.

Headline is wrong. Richter is not used anymore. You have it right in the other paragraph, quakes are measured in magnitude.
Syntax
i thought it was just someone pulling into the driveway of the drug house next door, playing something with really loud sub-bass on their car stereo…

Thanks for the props on my quake comments. I tried taking photos of the extensive damage… but there wasn’t any in the ‘hood.

Greetings from the flippen epicenter. Yeah, what’s the big deal? If I were living in L.A. and my house shook like that, I may say “no big deal,” but when you’re sittin in the Western NC mountains, it tends to rattle your cage a little. We had a few small tremors at work today, aftershocks I guess, enough to make your teeth rattle. Being someone with no social life and an abundance of time on my hands, I check the usgs.gov quake site often, the amount of shaking going on that we never feel amazes me. Because I’ve been doing this for a couple of years, I can tell you that it’s pretty rare to have a 3.8 ANYWHERE in the eastern U.S. So yeah, it’s a big deal. And yeah, WLOS dropped the ball.
