Here’s the info:
We at the Montford Park Players have performed free Shakespeare in the park for Asheville residents and visitors for 38 years now. For 28 of those years we have performed at our Hazel Robinson outdoor Amphitheatre on Gay Street in Montford. Now, after nearly three decades of service, weather and repairs, our beloved amphitheatre is showing its age.
Please help in funding the first phase of our rebuild of the Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre. This phase will let us bring our current performance space back to life. It will be better and more sustainable with new materials for safety, aesthetics and durability with some changes allowing for improved sightlines, lighting and acoustics.
We have seed money and construction crews and volunteers ready to go, but we are a non-profit group and cannot do it on our own. We are asking for your tax-deductible pledges and donations to help rebuild our theatre so that we may continue to entertain you, your family, friends, all the people of Asheville and tourists alike. Give a little today, and help keep Shakespeare free for all.
