Here’s an update about a frightening, and frustrating, case of a missing person that may be tied to a case in Cherokee County.

Kristi Cornwell, a 38-year-old Blairsville, Ga., woman, went missing on Aug. 11. She was just out for a walk, and hasn’t been heard from since. Police have worked hard on the investigation, and have just released a sketch of a suspect. Investigators also announced that an attempted abduction in Ranger, N.C., in Cherokee County has similarities to the Cornwell case, although they’re not saying the two are linked.

Here’s a note from loyal reader Allison of Asheville, who knew Kristi growing up:

I hope you’re doing well. I appreciate your help in getting the word out about the Kristi Cornwell case, and I’m hoping you’ll be willing  to share the most recent updates. As you may have heard, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation released a sketch this week of a  man  suspected in an attempted abduction in Ranger, NC that occurred just before Kristi went missing. While they cannot at this time confirm that the two cases are related, there are many similarities, and both the family and the authorities are hopeful that it may provide new leads in Kristi’s case.

I’ve attached a link below to the web site the Cornwell family has created to keep the public up to date on the progress of the case, as well as a link to the GBI poster with the sketch and vehicle. The family is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Kristi’s return. Any additional help you could provide in spreading the word would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much, Jason.
