Former WLOSer and weather guru Mike Bettes, who has gone on to fame and hurricane glory at The Weather Channel, will return to Asheville this November to judge the Grove Park Inn’s annual gingerbread house competition.
Bettes was one of the best weather peeps WLOS ever had. He’s now a popular and nationally known face for The Weather Channel.
Yet another former WLOSer will also be coming back to Asheville to help judge the competition. Heather Childers, a reporter/anchor who did one of my all-time favorite reports, will be here, too. Heather Childers moved on to Charlotte, then on to Fox News in New York City. The sweeps story that I’ll never forget – she stood out in the woods and reported “live, from Hobo Jungle,” about Asheville’s homeless population.
