A few weeks back, I wrote about Looking Glass Creamery, a new creamery out in Fairview. Looking Glass held a cheese-naming contest, inviting folks to help them name a bloomy rind crottin cheese. The prize — cheese, and lots of it.
Jen from Looking Glass tells me she got tons of great suggestions, including Homeward Angel, Noble Crottin, Early Bird and The Opera Box. The winner was Early Bird. Jen explains:
Ella was a local character, the words are short and fit on a small label, and it is our first aged cheese, our very own early bird. May our humble cheese inherit the longevity of its namesake. Thanks Ella.
So there you have it. Congratulations to the winner!
BTW, the shout-out to Looking Glass was a part of the ongoing Ashvegas project known as C.A.R.P., or the Crappy Assets Relief Program, which is my local solution to the federal TARP, or economic stimulus.
So if you’re a local business and you have some good news to announce, or summer specials, or just a cool story, let me know so I can let the masses know. It’s all about the local.
