Press release here:
Green building is gaining prominence around the country and world. And it should be — the building industry uses more than 40% of the world’s energy. Easy-to-learn and affordable natural building technologies can cut our use by 90% and drastically lower building costs.
Kleiwerks International, a natural building nonprofit based in Asheville, NC, has organized the Natural Building Extravaganza!!! (NBX), April 24 May 14. Ten instructors from around the country will be in Asheville to teach 15 hands-on workshops at this one-of-a-kind event. Participants will learn firsthand how to build on their own.
Participants will learn how to build a highly efficient, wood-fired baking oven, earthen cook stove, hot tub, and fireplace; earthen wall systems, sculptures, mosaics, murals; natural plasters and paints; a bamboo living room; and more. The wood-fired systems are replicable, and in the event of future energy shortages, people will be able to provide fresh-baked bread, vegetables, meats, and cookies for their families and communities.
