[…] Here’s the press release from Asheville City Councilman Cecil Bothwell. His call to action comes just days before this weekend’s gun show at the WNC Ag Center: […]
The city councilman is a joke.If people would worry more about the problems at hand rather than past event this place would a whole lot better,as a matter of fact the whole country would be better off.
i’m gonna get in trouble here…but..land of sky gunshow last couple times i have attented is more junk, souveniers, and anti-governtment t-shirts than serious gun transactions.yeah, nice accessories, but no real deals. kind of awful that you see so many confederate flags and all. me and a african american friend will be there. not to make a statement, but because he likes guns ,too. we’ll see how that works out.
Who owns the ag-center … the State, the County … it seems like if it is “owned by the taxpayers” this sort of “show” should not be allowed, although I guess they do pay to have it there.
Didn’t Asheville stop having such events at the civic center years ago …
If it is owned by the taxpayers, we must be making good money at $8 a head.
You can buy anything at this show. I went and it was pretty scary due to the crowd. It is a wonderful place to people watch. You can’t carry a loaded gun inside but who cares. There is a million shotguns and military style weapons, and anyone can carry ammo in their pocket undetected or buy it inside. Hopefully the have hidden detectors somewhere for that. LOL
Lots of bagged hand packed bullets of all kinds, but while checking out a few bags I noticed imperfections that could cause a gun to misfire, jam, or possibly explode etc. Example of one: Copper jacket pressed over the brass shell casing. Saw multiples of this. Check every bullet. I opt to buy ammo from a manufacturer for quality control.
The shows prices are about what you see on the internet with bargaining thrown in. Don’t know about background checks, it’s pretty crowded and the vendors want to move product. Note: I did not buy anything but a small magazine, so I don’t know.
Wish it was in a larger venue and spread out so you could actually see and handle items with out touching a smelly person in an already tense environment. * Expect to have tobacco spit on the tops of your shoes from the crowds. LOL
Just my two cents, I’ve seen better.
