Kerr Drugs goes green with Asheville drug store

The Raleigh News & Observer has the story:

With Earth Day coming up Wednesday, shoppers can prepare for an onslaught of “green” sales and promotions.

But Kerr Drug is doing something green that is a little more permanent.
The Raleigh company has revamped one store in Asheville and one in Raleigh into a new model called Naturally Kerr.

In those stores, nonhealth categories such as automotive and hardware were removed. Their space was filled with a wide range of natural and organic products.

The stores stock such items as gluten-free and allergy-free foods, kids’ organic vitamins and supplements, and organic pet supplies and toys.

There is also a natural baby section with organic diapers, lotions and other products.
Along with sections dedicated to natural and organic products, there are also more of those items scattered throughout the stores.

So far, the Asheville store and the Raleigh store, in Harvest Plaza at Strickland and Six Forks roads, are the only two Naturally Kerr stores in the works.

I got a flier in the mail today that it is indeed the Patton Ave. store.

Where’s the Asheville store? I noticed the Kerr on Patton Ave. has changed, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it green. I for one will be glad when the backlash against corporations and even small art businesses using the green movement as a marketing tool hits!
