What: RiverLink’s Picnic at Carrier Park with FREE Hot Air Balloon Rides, healthy snacks from Earth Fare and fun activities for everyone!! 

When: Saturday April 24th 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

Where:Carrier Park on Amboy Road

Grab your picnic blanket, and get ready for a day of healthy snacks, fun in the sun, and awesome activities for everyone in the family to enjoy! Join RiverLink on the 24th of April from 9 a.m. to 2 p. m. for a day of celebrating the Earth!  In the past, RiverLink has been all over the watershed at various Earth Day events. This year we thought; lets throw our own festivities, let’s have a community picnic!

Earth Fare will be joining the picnic party, providing healthy snacks and information on the importance of a healthy eating and snacking! Check out their newly launched program, Itty Bitty Bites, eliminating childhood obesity, one bite at a time! RiverLink links with this mission and encourages the community to get outside walking and biking on greenways throughout the French Broad Watershed.   

The Line-Up Thus Far:

9 a.m to 11 a.m :FREE Hot Air Balloon Rides courtesy of Asheville Hot Air Balloons  (wind permitting!)

10 a.m:A nature walk with one of RiverLink’s wonderful volunteers Marilyn Kolton 

10: 30 a.m:The Friends of the WNC Nature Center will bring some creatures and present about local conservation issues dealing with animals native to the WNC area 

11 a.m :Bike Parade for the kiddos to show off their sweet wheels!  

11 a.m. to 2 p.m:Earth Fare will be firing up the grills at the picnic shelter and providing healthy snacks, and information on the benefits of a nutritional diet.

12 p.m. A guided walk through Carrier Park with RiverLink’s Own Karen Cragnolin discussing the importance of greenways in our community, RiverLink’s past, present and future projects, and the BrownFields Program.   

1 p.m: A plant exchange; bring your extra seeds or plants you have hanging around, and swap em out for something new and wonderful!
