Ashvegas may have caught the tail end of a nasty situation. We don’t know if this photo captures the incident described in the e-mail below, but it sure looks like it. Congratulations to the officer for really keeping his cool.

Subject: Situation this past weekend…Dear Chief Hogan,
I am from Greensboro, NC and I was visiting Asheville this past weekend with some friends. I am sure this weekend was crazy for the police department because of Bele Chere. I am hoping after reading the below situation you will be able to pass this information along to the officer I am referring to.
On Saturday night approximately 8 pm a white male, long blonde hair, light colored jeans, and no shirt, was arrested. Two officers, one being white and the other officer black, were walking him down the street towards the police car. The man being arrested started yelling and screaming the most horrible words I have ever heard. He called the black officer “nigger” numerous times with all kinds of profanity. I have never felt so ashamed to be white as I did that moment. The black officer handled himself with such professionalism and he was just as nice as he could be to that man. I know that was very hard for the officer to do because of the filth that was coming from that man’s mouth.
I did not get the officers name or badge number. If you have any idea who I am referring to, please pass along my comment. You should be proud to have such a fine young man on your staff. I am very thankful this officer risks his life to serve and protect people like me everyday. I am very sorry for the harsh words that came out of that man’s month.
My mother lives in Asheville and I feel 100% confidence in her safety knowing an officer with such class, respect and composure is looking out for her and the other people of Asheville.
Thank you in advance for your time,
~Carrie

Since when do APD officers wear tan/brown/grey pants?
I have only seen SO jail officers in that garb?
Am I wrong?
As to your other points, I concede, entirely.
Bill, the officers are clearly Asheville Police Department officers. Your first clue should be that they’re both skinny. Know any thin sheriff’s deputies? Your second clue, aside from the uniforms, is that one of them is black. Know any black sheriff’s deputies?
Except those officers are clearly Buncombe County Sheriff Deputies, unless the uniforms have changed again.
You win..venom pie for everyone!
Of Course they do.
Why should I care? I’m still young, I gotta get better, get some michellin stars.
But I’m still a better cook than you are…and I’m not a racist idiot to boot!
Hooray, I win!
Sorry…..SOME CHEFS COOK BETTER THAN YOU!
Ironically…what you just said was racist.
Welcome to being an idiot.
now…saying "Some" white people are racist would have made you not look like a moron.
Ashvegas already had a picture posted that he thought might have been the incident this woman was talking about. That’s why it’s on here — because Ash is on the scene everywhere at Bele Chere.
Give me a break! Why is this on your blog? This happens everyday! White people are racist, no secret there!
