‘Internet for Everyone’ campaign comes to Asheville today

From Wally Bowen at the Mountain Area Information Network:

Now, a videographer from the “Internet for Everyone” national campaign is

coming to WNC to interview some of you.  These video stories will be

shared at a statewide public hearing in Durham sponsored by the IFE

campaign in late February (more about that later).

Megan Tady, the IFE campaign director, will conduct interviews from 1 to 6

p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Pack Library in downtown Asheville (near the

Civic Center).  Then, at 6 p.m., I will present “MAIN 2.0:  Next

Generation Community Network” at Pack Library (see press release below).

We hope you will take advantage of these two important opportunities:

1. . . . to learn more about new and exciting directions for MAIN,

including an update on the “white spaces” vote;

2. . . . and to share your “Life Without Broadband” stories with our state

and national leaders, so that they understand the urgency of this need.

If you’re willing to share your story, please email:  stories@main.nc.us

— and answer these simple questions:

1.  Did you submit your story last summer or fall?  If so, do you need to

update it?

2.  Can you come to downtown Asheville on the afternoon of Feb. 4th to be

interviewed?

3.  If you can’t come to Asheville on Feb. 4, are you willing to be

interviewed on Thursday, Feb. 5, if Ms. Tady and her crew will be passing

through your county?  (Make sure you tell us where you live!)

Also, if you did not submit your “Life Without Broadband” story last year,

now is your chance!  And please tell us your availability on these dates.

Whether you are interested in being interviewed or not, we do hope you

will join us at 6 p.m. Feb. 4 for the “MAIN 2.0” presentation!
