Here’s the story, from courthousenews.com:
A hospital technician says she was fired after she rejected her supervisor’s repeated sexual advances and gave the hospital a recording to substantiate her complaints. The day after the hospital listened to the recording, she says, her boss killed himself. (The story says this took place in 2010.)
Stephanie Crockett sued Mission Hospital and the Estate of Harry Kemp in Buncombe County Court.
…
Crockett wants Mission Hospital enjoined from “maintaining a sexually hostile work environment and any other employment practice which discriminates on the basis of sex,” and ordered to “institute and carry out policies, practices and programs which provide equal employment opportunities for women.”
She also seeks compensation for pecuniary losses and emotional injuries, and punitive damages for sex discrimination, hostile work environment, and retaliation.
She is represented by George Moore of Asheville.

It seems to me we are only getting to hear one side of the story. Sometimes people can say things about you that has "NO TRUTH" to it, and because it's seems to be a sweet inncent female we believe them. Maybe Harry felt there was no other way out. It's sad that his family has to deal with his death and now to deal with this girl harrassing his family. All I can say is "WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND!"
Tourist, I agree with you 100% except that you are saying since he decided to kill himself, she shouldn't gain anything from him? If he was alive, he would have been sued and there wouldn't be people criticizing the victim for suing then. How is it fair to say that since he took the easy way out, she is not entitiled to anything that was his !? He was the root of all of this and Mission Hospitals handled the situation entirely wrong! Everyone up in HR should be fired, including the lousy director of Radiology, Kathey Jones. They all had the situation brought to their attention multiple times but did absolutely nothing about it! This whole nightmare could have been prevented. Obviously though, Harry Kemp had issues anyway to do something so selfish and so drastic.
The employee who was sexually harassed is the one that was fired, suffering financial loss as well as emotional distress. The sexual harasser simply took the easy way out. He's unconscious of the pain he's left behind for both the woman he sexually harassed and his family. Mission Hospital should be the focus of the law suit not the man's family.
Defaming a dead man, makes me pity his family even more. Do not put shame upon others, when you know no shame.
The victim in this case was harassed for years by this monster! No one was on her side, not even Human Resources of Mission Hospitals! The woman is suing Mission Hospitals and the estate of the victim. Had the supervisor not committed suicide she would be suing the estate so who's to say since he is dead she is not entitled to anything after all she has endured? It is not the victim's fault that this evil supervisor decided the easy way out-to end his life! Commiting suicide the DAY after evidence is brought forth of a person's guilt SCREAMS GUILTY. This woman has had to endure being accused of being a liar along with the traumatic ordeal she has gone through. She also lost people in her life who she thought were her friends. The hospital threatened to fire anyone who was caught even speaking about what happened. As soon as they learned that the story had leaked to the media last week, the director of Radiology spoke to all of the X-Ray Techs, coaching them on what to say about Harry Kemp. She told them to not say "no comment", but to say that Harry Kemp was a respectable employee and person. Anyone who truly knew Harry Kemp knows that he was evil and he was NOT a good person! Furthermore, the victim lost a great job that she worked at for 9 years! HR of Mission Hospitals should be ASHAMED of the way they handled this matter! The victim made multiple requests to be removed from his shift but Mission Hospitals would do NOTHING! Things did not have to end the way that they did had Mission Hospitals handled things the proper way! Until you have gone through what the woman in this case has dealt with DO NOT JUDGE her in any way! SHAME ON YOU for having pity for the victim's family more so than the victim who has lived this horrific nightmare!
This woman's anguish is understandable, assuming these allegations are true. She has indeed suffered. Sue the hospital, the man's employer, if she must. They should never have tolerated such harrassment and should have investigated the allegations when first reported, and dealt with the offender appropriately and swiftly. This man's family, however, did not harrass the victim and were extremely devastated by his death. They are not responsible for his actions and should not have to pay the consequences. If someone murders another person, is the murderer's family imprisoned along with him? This is ridiculous. The man in this situation has certainly already punished his family enough. They should not be handed more.
I suppose the type of person to do such a thing, would be a person assualted by another, then fired by the employer of the assailant, just to discredit the victim. Since this article, employees who once worked with this man were told by the head of the department, if asked anything by the media to say nothing but kind words. Dont even say "no comment", cause this would put him in a bad light. The hospital cares nothing about anyone, but their own reputation. This had been going on for years, and unfortunately the hospital had done nothing about it. Now look what has have come of it. Maybe if the hospital had taken some of the complaints against this man more seriously this could of been avoided.
Because the man could not face the consequences of his actions, now his family must. This woman was harassed on a daily basis, as well as wrongfully fired, and you criticize her for seeking what is lawfully hers. Shame on you.
What kind of person sues someone after they may have taken their own life? I am sure the pain of the family losing a loved one is more than enough punishment, why punish them by suing them? They did not do anyone any harm.
Not to excuse sexual harassment in any matter shape or form, but is it not enough that the man is dead? Now, she has to sue the estate? Someone is without a Father, or a husband, and you are worried about your own "suffering".
Sexual harassment is a serious matter, but her revenue seeking post facto of his death, sort of negates her victim stance, and just makes her look like an opportunist and victimizer herself.
What sort of woman sues a deceased man's family for damages for sex discrimination?
