Sorry, but I have several friends that own it… never going to touch it. I play video games as well. But I worry about games that inspire people to spend the better part of a day playing them, which I see most of the players doing.
And sure… it’s cheaper than playing a guitar.
A book’s even cheaper. 🙂

Oh cut me a break here. I took a glance at it and got confused. Geez. Besides, the point stands.
jamunca, that’s rick pitino on "drums," not calipari. you might know that if you stopped playing so many video games.

Calipari? I thought it was Rick Pitino…

Kenn…
As someone who both plays real guitar and guitar hero, I can tell you the game (on its hardest mode) is more difficult, heh. But really, your argument about learning guitar instead of playing the game is fruitless.
I could run for mayor of a city OR I could just play Sim City. I could try out for an NFL team OR I could just play Madden. I could enlist in the Army or I could just play any number of first-person shooters.
People play video games in general as an escape – which, I might ad, video game use is on the rise in large part because it’s cheaper in this economy just to stay home for entertainment.
Not to mention that real guitars (at least, ones I’d want to play) cost $200 and up whereas Guitar Hero is much cheaper.
Basically, I got no beef with people playing Guitar Hero. I do. It’s fun. You should try it. As for the commercial, I thought it was meh. Entertaining to see Calipari wailing on the drumset? Yes. But I’m just meh about it. I’d rather see the Heidi Klum spot instead.

I think folks are over-thinking this commercial. That’s right, it’s a commerical for which – I’m just guessing here – these guys were paid a boatload of money. Sure, every one of them already makes a bunch, but if you could earn a little extra, wouldn’t you? Besides, it looks like they were having fun – I’m glad to see Coach K do something other than scream and scowl from the bench – and it totally cracked me up! I say, lighten-up.

Annoyed.
Recently I heard a comedian sum it up the best but saying "with as much time as people are spending on this damn game, you;d think they’d have the sense to just go learn how to play one!"
My worst nightmare was to imagine Roy in his boxers. I won’t sleep for nights now after that dream was crushed by the vision burned on the back of my eyelids of Bobby Knight in his!
nooooo! whyyyyy? come on roy! show some class! dancing around in boxers for a video game? all my dreams are shattered, i guess it’s really true – nobody’s perfect.

Look at Roy’s reaction after Knight’s angry toss…priceless. And, again, amusing!

I’m annoyed by Guitar Hero. Period.
