Based on their slim seven point victory

Um, seven points in a presidential election is a landslide. I think you left your teabag in too long.

The young crowd at these rallies are Ron Paul leftovers and they have been misled. Small government really means large corporations in charge of our lives. Healthcare shouldnt be for profit, and wars shouldnt be fought by the lowest bidding party. It gives me comfort that there is not many of them though and that their message is as confusing as their positions.

Working people, who dont have the luxury of listening to talk radio ALL DAY LONG, want solutions and letting our economy fail by doing nothing isnt an option we can afford.

Taxation without representation? please. we just had an election where fraud was few and far between. We have an elected President. Its democracy, and sometimes your side doesnt win. I know. Buck up and come up with solutions. Hate and fear freezes progress.

and dont even get me started on teabagging! 😉

The current President, his administration and the Congress have galvinized their opposition in less than one hundred days. Quite a feat.

Based on their slim seven point victory over the worst presidential candidate in four decades (or maybe ever), they should fear these tea party counts nationally.

It is less than eighteen months until four hundred thirty five House members and thirty four Senate members stand for re-election.

Great pictures Ash. And good story at your paper.

A police officer told me that he estimated about 1000 from the time it began till the time it ended. He said he based his estimate by working crowd control at the Orange Peel and Civic Center.

I was not suprised at the turn out. We have been working hard from all local conservative groups in the political scene.
Libertarians included and arguments mended.
This Tea Party just brought us together.
Hundreds of email information was exchanged and friends were made.
True grassroots American activisim is abound.

Will have our video on youtube soon.
And dempol……love you buddy!

Regardless of the turnout and who you vote for these people are a little paranoid. A lot of the paranoid comes from watching different news host that prey on these folk for ratings.

I know these americans are smarter then that and need to wake up a realize what they hear on the news is just being said to keep them tuned in. It seems cable news on either side will tell you what ever they want to keep you tuned to their show, so viewer beware. It is all not what it seems.

Making lots of noise in one place, to be sure, sign waving and car horns honking. It is loud. But don’t forget Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage are telling all these people exactly what to think and what to do. They got the same thing at church Wednesday night. Not an honest thought being provoked among them. They can protest all they want. It’s a free country. President Obama’s job is you keep it that way – that and cleaning-up eight-years of mess left by President You Know Who. W’s the gift that keeps on giving!

I got there a little after 5pm. There was a least 500 people there despite the chilly, windy conditions. There were a lot people in their 20’s and 30’s there. A lot of them didn’t look very ‘country’ or very conservative to me.

A lot of folks at the rally (and elsewhere) are angry about the huge sums of money that Washington seems to be just throwing away–spending on the wars and propping up businesses that, because of their poor business practices should fail. Its entirely possible that what we have witnessed today could be the beginning of a populist grass-root movement for real change.

BTW. The crowd seemed to be a very law-abiding bunch. I doubt anybody brought any ‘guns.’ It is illegal to carry ‘guns’ to a political rally. I am an independent, not affiliated with any party. I never voted for GWB.

dem, i was surprised at the large turnout in Asheville. i thought it would be 100 people, max. turned out it was, by my count, more than 500, at 4:30, on a Wednesday. plus hundreds more driving by, honking support. it was an impressive turnout.

Dangerous and frightening idiots! Thank goodness there really are not too many of them. Check the protest attendance numbers across the country. These are FOX News and Rush Limbaugh nut-jobs. Relatively speaking, there are not too many of them. What a relief! President Obama continues to kick ass and take names. Too bad for the NeoCons.
