Stupid people’s children die. Natural selection at work. Embrace it and rejoice!!!!!

junebugflies and JBo. This is Asheville. While irresponsible parents exist everywhere, from what I have seen, Asheville has more than its fair share.

There are a lot of parents in this town that believe in putting zero boundaries on their children. They teach them no respect for other people’s property, personal space or sanity and have little regard for their safety.

Just a couple weeks ago, we tried taking our kids to a library story telling event but ended up leaving early because many of the "parents" let their kids run around creating all kinds of noise and commotion to the point that you couldn’t hear the visiting story teller.

What responsible parent would allow their child to climb on top of that thing??? Hellooooooo?

I think it’s great to let folks play in the water, but there needs to be personal & parental responsibility involved.

Been wondering this myself! Can’t believe the number of parents that let their kids climb around on this. There’s a hole in the center that they can climb through — so no parents needed to lift them up. Saw a cop get after some parents who were enjoying watching their little kids splash around. I thought it was (1) way dangerous and (2) disrespectful to the art. I would never let my kids climb on it….

it is easy to climb up on the ring, just duck under and pop up through the middle…. this design is a disaster on public property and highlights the ignorance the entire park "re-model" seems to encompass.

if you think that is bad, wait until the turn the water on at the big one down the hill

Some signs with a fine posted would be a deterrent if not help lower the settlement in a liable suit.

How about a little parental action instead of lawsuits. Are the children photographed your children ? It’s the parent’s responsibility. Really.

I thought about this scenario back when they were installing the fountain, but I figured it would be too hard to get up on the thing because it doesn’t really have anything for you to climb on ….. but I guess if someone picks up another and places them on the disc it is possible.

I guess the "only solution" is to tear it all out and start all over….. ; )
