Here comes Asheville SantaCon

You all know about SantaCon, right? If not, here’s the deal: you dress up like Santa on Saturday and run around downtown Asheville doing crazy stuff like catapulting fruitcake and singing silly carols.

Yay, here comes Santa Claus! Please pass the word! The Asheville SantaCon is ON, December 6’th. Come dress in your best Santa attire–elves and reindeer welcome too! The key is mass santanonymity, so please dress your part and do it with style! Over the years, some helpful guidelines have developed, so please see below. Most important- Santa’s move fast, so please bring cash! Vaguely inappropriate gift giving to people on the street loosely encouraged,and if not, please bring something to pass out, we are Santa for God’s sake…….. NO SANTA’S LEFT BEHIND!!!! And, most important……’What’s your name? Santa.” “Who’s in charge? Santa.” “Where are you from? The North Pole.” You get it? Comes in handy, really…..

In a nutshell……..What is Santa Con, you say? Gasp, you haven’t HEARD???!! Started by the Cacophony Society way back when (www.santarchy.com), this vaguely disguised raucous and sometimes debaucherous city (aka, bar) tour takes place in most major metropolitan areas, and here too!

Highlights of last year included caroling and crashing Mike Huckabee’s fund raising dinner at the Grove Park (who WAS that snowman anyway???), the Santa Bus (presently under construction), Santa’s physically escorted out of the strip club (“Who, us?”), the fruit cake catapult, a snowball fight, and various other stellar engagements.

This year, we have a whole new program loosely in store, but you’ll have to show up to find out….. Stripping is sort of a Santacon tradition, so feel free if you want to step on up! Late night, we have a great venue planned, but please come for the earlier part if you can. It’s worth the committment. Rumor has it there may be some burlesque, could be a rockin DJ late night, and maybe even a drag show…….??

DETAILS: We will start at the Rocket Club on Haywood Avenue in West Asheville at 3pm. Everyone is welcome at Santa Robby’s house for a pre-party before that,
its a short walk to the Rocket from there. by 3:30, Santa’s are on the move……..
