Here’s your Hepatitis A update, since this is Ashvegas, where the restaurants seem to serve up a side of Hep A with meals every other year or so.
Anyway, a couple of tidbits. The first is that we saw a note from the Buncombe County Health Department, which has approved offering Hep A vaccinations at a discount to restaurant workers.
The second is a bit in this weeks Mountain XPress, which notes that Barley’s Tap Room and the Lobster Trap are local restaurants that now require all employees to be vaccinated against Hep A. The blurb notes that Barley’s adopted the policy back in 2003 after a Hep A scare back then, but didn’t advertise it. Now there’s a sign in the window, apparently to put diners at ease.
This year’s Hep A scare shuttered Trevi Restaurant in Biltmore Village, as you’ll recall. The business owner closed down, saying it would be too hard to recover after a worker there tested positive for Hep A.
