In Asheville, we hear a lot about local beer-makers. But loyal reader Anne-Marie recently gave me a heads-up about a local wine-maker. Their call their vino Ashevilla Wines. More from their web site:
Ashevilla Wines is a family business established by North Carolina natives George and Stacey Ibrahim. Located in Asheville, NC. Ashevilla Wines produces premium North Carolina products distributed by Smoky Mts. Wines exclusively for the Asheville market. George first began making wine during his years at Davidson College, keeping up his hobby throughout medical school. After years of practicing surgery, life’s changes presented an opportunity to pursue producing his own wine that he could share with others. Using a friend’s facility, George began making wine from some of the best grapes grown in North Carolina’s premier wine producing region situated around the Yadkin Valley Appellation. By 2008, with the encouragement of family and friends, George started Ashevilla Wines. His attention to detail ensures a product that is complex yet balanced. Available at an affordable price, Ashevilla wines are produced and sold only within the city of Asheville.
