Have you been to see the gingerbread houses at the Grove Park Inn yet? If no, you need to go. Make a trip of it. Wander the halls and marvel at the exquisite detail and the hours upon hours of labor people have put into their creations. It’s quite a sight.
Pay a little homage to the people from across the country who have a near freakish fascination with gum balls and Juicy Fruit gum and marzipan and all things Christmas. Peer into the sugary halls of imagination. Sunflower seeds as shingles. Frosting as cement. Gingerbread as building blocks.
But go. Be a tourist. Sit out on the veranda and drink in our fair city. Sit by the giant fireplace and sip a hot toddy.

Thanks for the tour for us X Ashvegans. I enjoyed our visit there a couple of years ago and wish I could have been with you on this one too.
I’ve got to go, I need a snack.
This one was one of my favorites: a giant acorn complete with squirrels, cardinals, elves and leaves. How did they get those leaves so shiny? They looked like glazed ceramics.
Marzipan, babe. Thanks for all the cool photos. We’ll probably visit this weekend.
