You don’t see this very often these days. Awesome.
Press release:
The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa announced today that the company will now offer full health care benefits, including medical, dental, vision and prescription insurance to the families and partners of all full-time employees.
“Our goal is to treat the families of all our employees fairly and equally,” said Rachel Monroe, Human Resources Director for The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa. “Part of Grove Park’s mission statement is “Everyone Matters, Everything Counts.” “Our expansion of health-care benefits for the families of our many wonderful employees is part of our commitment to uphold our mission and values. Everyone does matter and we want our employees and their families to stay healthy.”
Offering full health insurance benefits is consistent with Grove Park Inns’ commitment to promoting diversity in the workplace. Several national hospitality chains have recently expanded health insurance coverage to include adopted children and domestic partners, either of the same or opposite sex. In light of the national debate currently underway involving health care, Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa officials challenge other Western North Carolina companies to follow their lead.

Oh, the horror! GPI expanded their health insurance coverage and it might have been intended to help them keep workers. How dare they not do it just out of the goodness of their corporate hearts. Maybe they should even offer full health coverage to every person in Asheville. But even that wouldn’t satisfy some, because they’d claim it was done just for the good PR and not because GPI really cared.
They are having a heck of a time finding (and keeping) employees – which is nothing new: this is an attempt to "sweeten the pot" to get workers.
The place has been a revolving door for years and the quality of their "services" has declined measurably.
I agree with Stan, ANYTHING the GPI does is for the GPI, not their employees.
Whatever, I worked for GPI and they are so full of it! Thay talk about family, family, family but when it hits the fan, they can anybody in site. Anything GPI does, it does for GPI and nobody else!!!
Thanks for posting Ash!
Way to go Grove Park Inn! Hopefully more businesses, as well as the City of Asheville will follow their lead.
