Glen Rock update

Share

Here’s a nice note from Cindy Weeks of Mountain Housing Opportunities, updating us on the progress of the big Glen Rock Depot project down in the River Arts District:

Jason, we are completing the foundation and retaining walls at the Glen Rock Depot and we will be going vertical in the next two weeks as framing starts up.  In the photo you can see the work of Jan Coleman of JColeman Waterproofing in Asheville (local and woman owned firm) who is doing all of our waterproofing at the Glen Rock-a massive job!

The Glen Rock Depot will be the first LEED commercial space in Asheville and we are currently reaching out to local businesses who are interested in relocating to an affordable and LEED certified building in Asheville’s River District.  Green businesses welcome!

The new building will also have 60 apartments upstairs (mixed income at affordable rents) that will provide great foot traffic and many on site consumers.  Glen Rock Depot also has ample parking unlike other parts of town.

As part of our community outreach, we will be offering art classes for neighborhood children and a call to artists in the river arts district for art that will be constructed as part of this building and surrounding this building.

Our leasing office which is now located in the southern end of the Fine Arts League building at 362 Depot street (just to the north of the new construction) will be open for business every Wednesday from 1-3 if folks want to stop by and see plans of the new space and other leasing information. Folks can also contact me at cindy@mtnhousing.org.
