Asheville Bravo Concerts once again is brining some great art and entertainment to Asheville. This time it’s Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, who will perform at 7:30 p.m. at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium.

More:

Dancing the fine line between high art and high camp, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo delights audiences around the world. Since their formation in 1974 their concept of has not changed. The Trocks are a company of professional male dancers performing the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire, including classical and original works in faithful renditions of the manners and conceits of those dance styles. The comedy is achieved by incorporating and exaggerating the foibles, accidents, and underlying incongruities of serious dance. The fact that men dance all the parts-heavy bodies delicately balancing on toes as swans, sylphs, water sprites, romantic princesses, angst-ridden Victorian ladies-enhances rather than mocks the spirit of dance as an art form, delighting and amusing all in the audience, from complete dance novices to the most knowledgeable connoisseur.

Parodying classical works from Swan Lake to Giselle and the choreography of everyone from Isadora Duncan to George Balanchine to Martha Graham, the Trockaderos offer irresistible evenings for dance aficionados and complete novices. Combining a loving knowledge of dance with a wicked comedic sensibility, the Trockaderos never disappoint.

You can buy tickets now. Or you can be the first one to answer correctly the following question by typing your answer into the comments field on this post. The question:

Some of the first Trockaderos performances were in the theatre used by what over the top, even ridiculous, New York theatre company?

Good luck! And support Asheville Bravo Concerts.

I have seen them perform. It is a wonderful show. You have to be a good dancer to pull this off and they do.
