Sunday at Bele Chere offers a much slower pace. Things don’t really get cranked until about 2 p.m., a time when people are really feeding their faces. It’s almost obscene out there on Pack Square with all the folks wolfing down crap.
But I digress. Sunday is also about more mellow music, including a little gospel and other church music. I’m not sure what you’d call what the Biltmore Baptist mega-Church choir was singing, but it was uplifting. The yellow-clad singers, sporting T-shirts with the word “Exalt” scripted on the front, really got into it and they had a big crowd cheering them on.
One typical family fanning themselves with Biltmore Baptist hand-held fans had the mom wearing a shirt that read “Property of Jesus,” while dad sported a “Jesus is my lifeguard” tee with a red cross in the middle.
As I’ve said over and over, it’s all about the marketing. Everyone, and I mean everyone, at Bele Chere understands that.
