Here’s the note I received from loyal reader Carolyn. Sounds great!
Hi Jason,
Greetings from Eliada. I'm a loyal reader writing in hopes that you will be able to help us promote our first-ever "Castle in The Corn" maze at Eliada Homes for Children: http://www.castleinthecorn.com. With all the state budget cuts we've been experiencing, the maze is our attempt to find a creative way to raise funds while still responding to the realities of our current economic situation- i.e., the drying up of corporate sponsorships and the lack of public response to more formal/expensive events. The maze will open 9/25 and continue every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through Halloween. We'll also be open on Wednesdays for church/school groups by reservation only.
We came up with the maze as a way to use our beautiful campus and offer an affordable, family-friendly attraction really close to downtown Asheville. We've contracted with a professional maze designer who estimates that based on our proximity to downtown, we could possibly draw as many as 15,000 people. If so, it would be the most successful event we've ever done!
It's going to take a lot to make this work - 600 volunteers for one thing. We're asking volunteers to give 3 hour shifts; in exchange, they'll get a small snack and two complimentary maze admission passes. Folks can sign up for a time slot of their choosing at http://www.castleinthecorn.com/volunteer/.
Anything you could do to help us get the word out would be much appreciated. Thanks for all you do for Asheville.
