Oyster House Brewing to move to West Asheville

Big beer news for West Asheville. Here ’tis, from Beer Guy Tony Kiss of the Asheville Scene:

Oyster House Brewing, the city’s smallest brewery, is moving from downtown (inside the Lobster Trap restaurant on Patton Avenue) to a bigger space on Haywood Road in West Asheville.

The new Oyster House Brewpub looks to open by early 2013 on what is fast becoming a destination for restaurants and pubs, said owner Billy Klingel. The brewpub will be located in a 2,000 square foot building at 625 Haywood Road, a spot previously occupied by the now closed Viva Deli. The Oyster House will expand from a half barrel brewing to a 3.5 barrel system, he said.

Blunder, If I’m not mistaken, the brewer at O’house goes to FBBC to use their brewing equipment to help keep up with demand at the Lobster house.

i think french broad makes some of their beers,including the IPA

They make a wide array of beers, including, but not limited to the Moonstone Oyster Stout. And, as I have tasted all of their offerings, I can say that they are all excellent beers. If you try nothing else, try the IPA. It is fantastic and, in my humble hop-loving opinion, the best in town. Ash, get back and have the others.

John, I had it once, several years ago, and it was tasty but a bit salty, as I recall. I need to go back and give ’em another try.
