A note from Anon about my recent announcement:
Jason, I wish you luck on your new journey. However, selfishly I wonder what venue will we have now to expose the truth? You have spoiled us with your fearless ability to allow dialog to be heard.
You gave so many people an arena to hear both sides of the equation. Your blog had the ability to help bust up the corrupt power structures that kept most of us in the dark. This was exampled by your dedication to The Mission Story.
Besides the civic concerns, you have also exposed the more esoteric side of Asheville. I know I speak for many, when I say I enjoyed being in the comfort of my home and being able to access new forms of entertainment, dining and grass roots concerns in Asheville I hope you can bring or maintain the purity of your frontier form of journalism to the old commercial powers that be. I sincerely hope this is a move forward for you, and you bring the paper forward with you as well.
Best of Luck.

Ash, you were good at keeping us informed on the inner-workings of the Asheville Citizen-Times (some of it not flattering to the AC-T) while you with Mountain Xpress. Will you keep us equally well-informed about the inner-workings of Mountain Xpress now that you have returned to AC-T? It appears that almost 50 percent of the editorial staff of that paper has left at virtually the same time. That may indeed be a coincidence, but if 50 percent of the editorial staff the Citizen-Times departed, you probably would have been investigating. If the media are the "watch dogs" of our society, who are the "watch dogs" of the media?
Please don’t go!!! You can do both… right? 🙂
Have you explained to your loyal readers how your arrangement/relationship with the Citizen-Times is going to work?
Always keep a copy of this letter with you when talking to AC-T management.
I’m confused about what’s actually going to happen here. Indeed, the Ashvegas blog is always quite a good source for AVL news of all kinds. It’s much livelier, and often more current, than the local newspaper or tv news. Jason has a unique skill set as a native, journalist and entrepreneur.
I’m not quite sure what actually is going to happen to the Ashvegas blog if he is going to work at the newspaper. Will it continue as a separate entity as was the case when he was with Mountain Express? Or, (please not) is the blog going to somehow become part of the Citizen-Times web site?
Perhaps Jason can provide more details? Loyal readers want to know.
Well said, good luck Jason.
