Dave Chappelle’s Asheville weekend: Scully’s, Mellow Mushroom, b-boy action and time with Larry the Cable Guy

Dave Chappelle was in Asheville this weekend, hanging out around downtown on Saturday night, Ashvegas sources confirm.

Here’s the story as I have it: Chappelle was aboard a small Cessna-type aircraft that stopped in Asheville for refueling. He asked a friend to show him around town, so Chappelle and company hit Mellow Mushroom first, then walked over to Scully’s for a drink. 

Chappelle, who apparently doesn’t like the spotlight, signed a few autographs under the table but politely declined most requests for photos and signatures. He stopped by the breakdancing competition at the YMI Cultural Center, too. 

Chappelle headed back to the airport to fly out, and here’s where the story gets good. The bitter cold was causing some type of problem with the aircraft, so Dave was stuck. By coincidence, another comedian was also stuck at the Asheville Regional Airport.

Larry the Cable Guy had performed Saturday night at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, and was planning to fly out of the Asheville Regional Airport when he got grounded, too. Dave and Larry met up and, word is, hung out for awhile before going their separate ways.
