Could Asheville native Leslie Winner be chosen as next president of UNC system?

North Carolina columnist D.G. Martin has a piece in The Pilot in which he runs down possible candidates to replace Erskine Bowles as president of the University of North Carolina system. The Board of Governors will make the decision, and just a quick note — former Buncombe County Commissioner David Young is a member of that board.

Martin lists several possibilities, including Asheville native Leslie Winner:

Asheville native Leslie Winner succeeded Ross at Z. Smith Reynolds. Previously, she was UNC’s vice president and chief legal officer. Earlier she served in the state Senate, where she oversaw appropriations for education.

We’ll watch and see.
