Constance Ensner, the owner of the popular Constance Boutique clothing store, has announced that she’s closing her store. A new shop called Bette is taking over the boutique in Biltmore Park. It appears that a consignment shop that Constance operates will remain open, but I don’t have the deets on that store.
Last November, Ensner filed for bankruptcy and announced the closure of her downtown store and subsequent move to Biltmore Park. Now it appears that Constance if moving on.
Ensner has been one of Asheville’s most respected businesswomen, and she’s known for single-handedly bringing top brand-name fashions to town. (She was one of the first to bring a Diane Von Furstenburg dress to town.) She’ll be missed.
Here’s the note that Constance sent out:
it’s been a wonderful 25 years.
time to start anew
focusing on design! + sewing! + precious new husband!
but don’t despair
BETTE
dede and tara’s new store!
will be taking over the space on TUESDAY going forward
with all the great lines you now must have. perfect right?
oh……consignment store isn’t going anywhere either so don’t worry about that.
thank you profoundly for the long run.
so much beauty bloomed. inside and out.
the years flew by.
but no dreams did.
yours. truly.

The consignment store is on Long Shoals past the Biltmore Park entrance in the same shopping center as Pomodoro's.
@D.Dial – I think it is in the shopping center in South Asheville where the Boathouse used to be.
Anyone know where the Consignment Shop is?
Many well wishes to Constance! AVL will be anxiously awaiting your future endeavors. And great catch on the husband BTW…the two of you make for a marvelous pair.
