Press release here:
ASHEVILLE – A big opening took place last week for a big red dog named Clifford™! Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog is the newest exhibit now on display at The Health Adventure.
Board the Birdwell Island ferry and journey to the world of Clifford™, America’s beloved big red dog with a heart to match. See Emily Elizabeth™ and many of the residents of Birdwell Island. Inspired by Scholastic Entertainment’s top-rated TV show Clifford The Big Red Dog™ on PBS KIDS®, the exhibit offers numerous immersive “paws-on” adventures that reinforce “Clifford’s Big Ideas”—ten simple tangible life lessons designed to help young children navigate their world: Share, Play Fair, Have Respect, Work Together, Be Responsible, Be Truthful, Be Kind, Believe in Yourself, Be a Good Friend and Help Others.
“We are so thrilled to bring Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog to The Health Adventure,” said Paige Dickens, President & CEO. “So many children care about and identify with the Clifford characters, and we hope that by providing a place for families to experience the world of Clifford, we can help instill his ‘Big Ideas.’”
While Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog is on display, the museum will host daily story times led by librarians from the Buncombe County Public Library System. The 30-minute programs will take place Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m. Children can celebrate the joy of books and reading through stories, interactive music, movement, and play.
In conjunction with the exhibit, The Health Adventure will host a special event on Saturday, April 24 at 5:30 p.m. “It’s a Dog’s Life” will be a family-friendly evening full of smart fun. Activities include:
• A building station where children can create their own doghouses
• Story time presented by Spellbound Children’s Bookshop
• A sand pit where kids can test their digging skills to find buried treasure
• The Bow Wow Game Show, designed to test your knowledge of dogs
• A tasty, healthy dinner provided by Tomato Jam Café
• An appearance by Clifford himself, and much more.
Tickets to the event are $50 for a family three-pack and $20 for each additional ticket. Members of The Health Adventure receive a discount price of $42 for a family three-pack and $17 for each additional ticket. Admission for children under the age of two is free.
