This sounds very cool. Press release:

Castell Photography is pleased to announce a call for entries for an upcoming juried exhibition, The Human Condition. The juried exhibition will feature only photo-based work which should be an exploration of human existence in a political, social, and/or personal context. The theme is open to each individual’s interpretation, and the gallery will be accepting works from lens-based artists both nationally and internationally.

The juror for The Human Condition will be Diana Stoll, senior editor of Aperture magazine. Aperture is arguably the world’s finest photographic magazine, showcasing the most challenging photos existing in the industry, and profiling the field’s most proclaimed artists. Diana began her publishing career at Artforum magazine, and over the past twenty years she has edited books on the visual arts for Aperture, The International Center of Photography, The Museum of Modern Art, Powerhouse, and many other publishers. Originally from New York City, Diana is now based in Asheville.

Additionally, the Juror’s Choice Award will receive a solo exhibition at Castell Photography for the 2011 show season. Two honorable mentions will also be awarded. “The prize of a solo exhibition is something that we had been waiting for just the right opportunity to offer– we’re extremely selective when choosing solo shows, and are thrilled and overwhelmingly honored to have Diana choose one for us,” says gallery owner Brie Castell.

Submissions for The Human Condition will be accepted through October 2nd, and the exhibition will be on view at Castell Photography from October 29th through November 27. Prospectus with complete information can be found at www.castellphotography.com.
