Carol Mallet, dancing up a storm

Friend and loyal reader Carol Mallet recently gave me a heads-up about a YouTube video she’d come across featuring none other than herself nearly 30 years ago. Isn’t it crazy how the new digital world we live in can present us with videos of ourselves from decades ago? It blows my mind.

Anyhoo — you all know that Carol is hugely involved in the local bluegrass scene and has been for years, as both a great musician and as a fan with a great appreciation for the music and the legends who have popularized mountain music. You’ve likely seen Carol perform at the summer Shindig on the Green series in downtown Asheville. She tells me she’s putting together a new band, and I can’t wait to hear more about that.

So click here and get to about half-way in the video, and you’ll see a young woman with long dark hair, a blue country dress and black dancing shoes doing a wonderful buck dance to a tune played by legend Tommy Jarrell and some fellow musicians. I believe the video was shot as part of a TV documentary back in 1985.

It’s just wonderful. I absolutely love it.

Carol, thanks for sharing this. You rock!
