I wanted to give you a heads up about an announcement Carepartners organization made today to their employees. Starting at the beginning of the fiscal year, Carepartners will start providing same sex health and dental benefits to employees and their partners. The announcement was made by our CEO, Tracy Buchanan. Thanks for all you do.

I hope this fair and just decision will encourage Mission Hospital to offer partner benefits to staff. As a Mission employee I find it discriminatory and ridiculous that this isn't already in place. Mission wants to be a regional and national leader in healthcare, and in many areas we are. We are far behind on this, and the decision not to offer partner benefits holds us back; we have lost excellent candidates for many departments because of the current situation. Perhaps with some new leadership in place and more changes ahead Mission will right this wrong.
