Bryan Freeborn wants another recount.
After losing his Ashvegas City Council seat in the Nov. 6 elections by 80-some votes to challenger Bill Russell, Freeborn requested a recount. He got it last week and found that he lost by 70-some votes.
Now Freeborn wants yet another recount.
Last week’s recount was done by re-scanning all ballots into the optical scan machines. Freenborn has asked that the Buncombe County Board of Elections perform a "hand-eye" recount of 3 percent of the total vote that he and Russell garnered. That means the elections board will randomly select two precincts and tally, by hand, each and every ballot. The recount will be scheduled some time after Thanksgiving.
So the beat goes on.

bryan freeborn is whiney & arrogant & my brother i would not vote for that sob
I’ve talked with Bryan and had a roommate who helped run his last campaign.
Trust me, he is whiney, Arrogant, and as blatantly fake as a used car salesman.
He also is WAY out of his league in city council. Watch a meeting. Notice how many times he has to go back over the points, or how many times he completely misconstrues what is being said.
The guy is not that smart and doesn’t have the head for city government.
Hell, he threw a hissy fit and literally stormed out of a meeting last year.
I agree with Bill. I didn’t vote for Bryan, but almost did (chose Russell instead as my third preference, apparently voting with the majority or plurality).
But Bryan is: 1) protecting his legal interests and the interests of those who voted for him, in order to be sure their votes count, in light of much evidence nationally since 2000 that our votes sometimes don’t count, and 2) he is testing the scan system in a modest way, with a small sample. That in itself is a service to voters.
Changing the subject a little, I’ve been interested to see how much of the anti-Bryan comment after the election (much more than before the election) is about his manner. "Whining," "arrogant," etc, have been used many times.
I personally think he is very intelligent about policy and often right-headed about it, smart about party politics, close to the Dems who identify themselves as Dems, but has a little bit of emotional-intelligence deficiency — is not smooth in showing humility or thoughful consideration the way the politically more mature candidates do. (I do believe he has shown thoughtful consideration much more than he is given credit for.)
But when does someone who occasionally acts or seems arrogant actually convince us that he is arrogant. I believe that, for Bryan, his much-commented-on manner is not a core part of his character, and that he’ll be back. Maybe not at the City level, but he’ll be back.
Why not, indeed.
Why not?
Human error could account for the difference. So could more nefarious doings in an election glommed up with money from a PAC with an agenda.
Not saying it is so, or that there is any reason to believe that is so, but…
Why not?
what a whiny loser!! freeborn’s demeanor since the election has convinced me not to support his future quests for political office.
This will only prove that Bryan is a sore loser, now while I did support his re-count being that it was less than 1%.
Now, asking for this can only prove that Bryan is a sore loser.
Now, if Bryan is aware of something that we are not aware of then we need to know this, if not then its clear that he is a sore loser.
What little highroad was left for Bryan is all but gone to a dead end.
