From loyal reader Scott:

Hadn’t seen this mentioned before, but nice newspaper article recently about musician Bruce Hornsby’s son, Keith Hornsby, has accepted a basketball scholarship to play at UNC Asheville. Nice shout out in the article (from Roanoke.com) from Bruce about Asheville being one of the great “hippie towns”. Anyway, here it is. Thought you might enjoy.

Love your web site. I live in Virginia Beach near Bruce, and my mother lives in Weaverville. I check in with you religiously to keep up on the Asheville happenings.

Click over and check out the excellent story. You’ll learn that Bruce Hornsby was once a basketball standout himself. You’ll see that he plans to sing the national anthem at UNCA when it debuts the new arena its building. You’ll learn that Keith Hornsby was named after a jazz legend and that he cherishes a picture of Jerry Garcia cradling him in his arms when Keith was a tot. And much more.

Guess we’ll be seeing a lot of the Grammy Award-winning Bruce, and his talented son Keith, around town.
