ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Blue Ridge Savings Bank announced today it would work with parents and students who may need funds to help their children finish the college year. For one reason or another, some families have lost loans for the second semester of the college year. Blue Ridge Savings Bank President Dwayne Wiseman stated “We are trying to work with families in our market area at this tough time. Several students have contacted us to say that loans or other funding they had arranged for next semester has now been recalled due to the current financial situation. We don’t want to see those students drop out of school if we can help them”.
Wiseman explained that this is not a new student loan program, but an effort to work with parents and students in the Blue Ridge Savings Bank market area who have lost loans through banks or other credit sources for the second semester. Wiseman said Blue Ridge Savings Bank will work with families on a case by case basis.
“Our goal is to keep students in college and help prevent them from being forced to drop out because of the different types of credit that are only available to students. Blue Ridge Savings Bank stands ready to work with our families to keep students on the steady path to a college degree,” said Wiseman.”
