Biltmore Estate holding job fair to hire more than 400 workers for winery, new hotel

The Biltmore Estate is holding two job fairs to fill openings at its winery, as well as at its new hotel opening in December and its existing hotel. The company plans to hire more than 400 workers in all.

The winery and retail job fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 16 at the Biltmore Staffing Center in downtown Asheville at 1 North Pack Square. Applicants will meet with retail and winery managers and supervisors to interview for up to 75 jobs.

The job fair to fill positions at the Inn on Biltmore and the new Village Hotel on Biltmore will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 6. It will be held at the Vanderbilt Room at the Inn on Biltmore Estate at 1 Lodge Street in Asheville. About 220 employees will work at the new hotel, which plans to open in mid December.

With the unemployment rate in the metro area at 3.5% (or less) it’s going to be interesting to see if the necessary workers to staff all the new (traditionally low-wage) jobs in the hotels, restaurants, retail etc. in Buncombe Count materialize… the CT just had an article that focused on the lack of available, qualified restaurant workers.
