Biltmore Estate + flower carpet = marriage proposal

One of my many Ashvegas spies reports:

Last Friday my wife and I went over to the Biltmore Estate to check out their flower carpet display. Have you seen it? It’s beautiful. Anyway, there was one couple that was hard to miss. A woman in a striking turquoise dress, and, like, 4-inch turquoise pumps, with a giant silver handbag with a flowing scarf attached, was walking around with her date. They made their way to the center of the flower carpet, which is specially lit. It was about dusk. A beautiful night. The guy got down on one knee and proposed, and everybody who was there cheered and clapped.

Here’s the kicker – so the woman immediately gets on her cell phone and you can kinda hear her. She’s all excited. She’s talking to her mother.

She’s talking, then she pulls the phone away from her ear and tells her new fiance: “She says it’s about time!”

My now husband proposed to me at Biltmore. I was a UNCA student and he was up for a visit. He proposed up at the vista overlooking the house. It was lovely! We so enjoy or annual visits there.

I wonder if she knew it was coming?? Who gets that dressed up to go to Biltmore??

My parents were there. They didn't see the proposal, but noticed the couple. Dad said that they were a striking contrast. She was all dressed up (as described in the article), but he was wearing shorts, t-shirt, and tennis shoes. As Dad put it, "It looked like she was going to a formal dance, and he was going to a ballgame."
