Quite frankly, we need more people associated with business and commerce running for elected office in Asheville, not fewer.
Kelly Miller is just another part of the well established "good ole boy" Asheville "establishment"…. along with the Chamber of Commerce, Advantage West, City & County governments, etc. they are "all talk and no action".
Kelly Miller is is one of the least creative people I’ve ever encountered.
Anybody associated with the debacle of Pack Square’s "redevelopment" should be run out of town. This project, and the Pack Square Conservancy are a disgrace to our city and all of the bureaucrats with ties to it in any way do not deserve elected office.
As a Council member I will be eager to demand a full audit and public accounting of the expenditures for the park. When I’ve challenged the cost increase in the past I was informed that the cost of concrete had gone up substantially since the original plan was approved.
I modestly suggested that grass seemed cheaper and more appropriate for a park. Certainly the bizarre stage with its concrete columns was designed and approved while the city was asleep.
And one can’t help but wonder if local architects could have created a park that was more "Asheville", if local contractors couldn’t have implemented the plan at lower cost and in a more timely way, and why the increased cost includes a permanent (NEW) office for the conservancy.
