Babe-a-star Gallactica off to a good start

Babe-a-Star Gallactica’s third season is off to a good start. Did you all catch the season premiere on Friday?

I got hooked last week when NBC ran the season 2 finale to hype the start of the new run. The finale was great, the aliens were scary and the Victoria’s Secret models looked good in their space suits. (Grace Park as “Boomer” is one of our favorites.)

We’re still not exactly sure what’s happening, story wise, but we’ll catch up. And for now, we’re looking past some of the camp that comes along with these type shows. For example, there was a whole Vietnam-style story line in which three space grunts had to walk through the jungle to retrieve a med kit left behind. Sarge, the leader, was telling everyone to be quiet and stay alert (“Eyes and ears,” he said.) So they get the kit and on the way back, Sarge and the other two are stomping back, having the loudest conversation about nothing, when they get ambushed. Hey Sarge, what happened to your military deportment?

And everyone tries to be tough, but they say “frackin'” all the time, instead of the eff-word. That’s kind of funny – but maybe it’s the way we’ll be talking 50 years down the road when we’re lost in space and trying to find home.

Anyway, it’s a fun show. I’m in. By the way, USA Today gave it a 3.5 star rating. The show’s on the Sci-Fi channel at 10 p.m. on Fridays.
