Some of what’s going around:

From loyal reader Jen:

According to Bouchon and Downtown Asheville on Facebook, Ultimate Ice Cream is now open downtown on Lexington, in the alley where Bouchon street food used to be.

-There’s brown paper up over the former Cats & Dogs restaurant space in the Grove Arcade. It looks like the new joint, BurgerWorx, is finally coming together.

-Rocky’s Hot Chicken Shack is set to open to the public on July 1 in the new location along Patton Avenue. Rocky’s doing a series of private events leading up to the big day.

-The foodie social event of the week so far in Asheville was yesterday at Curate. The place was packed out with people eager to eat and to meet and hear author Lisa Abend talk about her new book, The Sorcerer’s Apprentices. The book chronicles the work of world-famous chef Feran Adria and the cooks who learned from him at his restaurant, El Bulli. One of those apprentices was Katie Button, the chef and one of the owners of Curate.

-Work is well underway to transform the former Tingles restaurant on Broadway. The Mountain Xpress’ Mackensy Lunsford reports that revamped joint will be called Zoe Rose and will open July 5.
