Ashvegas reader: Mountain Sports Festival was overlooked

A good note here from loyal reader Adam:

Hi,

Let me start by saying that I enjoy reading your blog.  I feel that you cover a lot of informative and interesting subjects that I enjoy reading about.  With that said, I was disappointed to find that there was no mention of the Mt. Sports Festival that we had over the weekend down at Carrier Park.  There are several aspects of the event that I feel are highly noteworthy; for example, this year the festival has been run entirely by a volunteer staff due to the City’s budget cut-backs and we still posted a record breaking year!  The main goal is to encourage participating in the outdoor lifestyle and resources that surround us.  The whole weekend is a mix between active events like races, triathlons, demos and clinics and the more laid back atmosphere inside the village with local vendors and organizations and live, local music all weekend.  It totally kicked ass!

Don’t get me wrong, it’s interesting when famous people visit the Biltmore… I just think that that sort of news pales in comparison to a volunteer-run event that brings together upwards of 20,000 people.

Adam, I appreciate your note. I agree that the festival is noteworthy. I try to post these types of events, but honestly can’t keep up with it all, so sometimes I’m going to miss things. It’s also been a rough month for a variety of reasons, so I hope you’ll bear with.

Adam – next year you could go ahead and hit Ash up a couple of weeks prior (and a day or two before) with an email. I'm sure he would post it just like he does all the others –
no biggie! Sometimes you just have to take care of your own destiny!
