So much music news to keep up with. Here are the highlights:
Moogfest today announced that Moby is scheduled to play the downtown Asheville music festival this fall. The Antlers, Dan Deacon and several other acts were also announced. It’s gonna be another great music festival.
The Adele show that was recently cancelled has been rescheduled for Oct. 11 at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville. That’s good news for area Adele fans, who were excited to see her perform locally. The show had been set for the Orange Peel, then moved to the auditorium before Adele cancelled.
Adrienne Pomeroy tweets that the Avett Brothers ate lunch today at Posana restaurant in downtown Asheville. That’s awesome. The Avett Brothers have reportedly been at work on a new album over at Echo Mountain Studios.
The Wall Street Journal recently had a story about Flogging Molly’s new album, which was recorded at Echo Mountain. Here’s the relevant tidbit about why the band didn’t record in Detroit, where the band has some strong connections:
Flogging Molly would have liked to inject more of the band’s money into the local economy. Though the group rehearsed the songs in Mr. King and Ms. Regan’s basement, it recorded “Speed of Darkness” in Asheville, N.C. The reason: As a septet that prefers to record live in the same room, “we could only find one studio big enough for us in Detroit,” Ms. Regan says. “And Eminem had it booked for like three months in a row.”

Really?!? The Avett Brothers flew back to Asheville to eat between gigs in London and Spain? All you have to do is check their tour schedule or Joe's blog to know that's bogus.
I doubt the avett brothers ate at posana today. They were in London last night
It's a shame that only a few acts scheduled to appear at Moogfest actually use Moog equipment, or have even a hint of anologue synthesizers in their music. Who books these acts, Time Warner?
Wow, the Avetts must really like Posana – and they were probably really hungry after that red-eye flight… seeing as they played Shepherd's Bush in London, England last night.
