More of what’s going around:

-Preaching in the park: Is a religious service held Sunday mornings on the stage in Pack Square Park? That’s what I hear. Curious.

-Jamie Lidell: He’s playing the Orange Peel tonight and he’s frackin’ awesome. He messed around at Moog Music today.

-Big news for Black Mountain: WLOS reports that there’s new life for the old Monte Vista Hotel. A Florida developer has purchased the property and plans to restore it. First to open will be the old restaurant there – hopefully in about three months.

-Sketchy campground: WLOS reports that a sketchy campground along the French Broad River was recently shut down by police.

-Mountains and Mushroom: From Navitat Canopy Tours on Facebook: “Big ol’ group out today from Asheville’s Mellow Mushroom. They closed down the restaurant for the day to bring the entire staff out. Pretty awesome stuff! Hmmm… zipping at Navitat followed by some good pizza eatin’ right smack in the middle of downtown… now that sounds like the makings of a good day.”

-David Oppenheimer’s photos of this past weekennd’s Black Crowes show.

-New parenting website: Sixty Second Parent has launched a new website targeting local parents.
