-Biscuit Head opening in Greenville: Biscuit Head, Chef Jason Roy’s popular biscuit joint with two locations in Asheville, plans to open a third location in Greenville, S.C. From the press release:
Biscuit Head, a traditional southern restaurant with a twist, will be the first new retailer to open at the new South Ridge development, a 350-unit mixed-used apartment community in Downtown Greenville, SC developed by South Ridge Investment, LLC, an affiliate of The Beach Company. In addition to their signature cat-head biscuits, the restaurant specializes in homemade gravies, jams and hot sauces. Along with many other accolades, Food & Wine magazine recognized Biscuit Head as one of the best places for biscuits in America. With two successful locations in Asheville, the new location at the corner of Church and University Ridge will mark Biscuit Head’s debut in Greenville.
-New mead-maker in Fairview: Ivar Schloz, a metallurgist-turned-mead-maker, has opened a new winery in Fairview. The Bee and Bramble (beeandbramble.com) draws up local producers of honey and fruit to make his mead. His concoction is dry and drinkable, more on the side of a table wine than a dessert wine. He brews up flavors such as one using mountain wildflower honey, local ginger, lemongrass, and orange zest. Another combines wildflower honey, ginger, chamomile, rose petals and hibiscus.
