Some of what’s going around on a Saturday:

-Actionfest returns to Asheville: The Beer Guy blogs that the all-action film festival ActionFest, which had a successful debut this year in town, will return April 7. The festival’s website’s getting an overhaul, too.

-Green Man expansion: Asheville’s Green Man Brewing on Friday moved in more giant tanks, which will allow the brewery to double its beer making capacity, tweets the Asheville Citizen-Times Beer Guy. Amazing how the local beer scene continues to grow.

-UNCA takes it to the Tigers: UNCA’s men’s basketball team beat the Auburn Tigers last night in overtime. Score was 70-69. Huge win for the Bulldogs, who came back from being 16 down at half-time.

-Magnetic Field coming: The Beer Guy also tweets that he toured the new Magnetic Field coffeehouse/bar/performance space in the new Glen Rock building on Depot Street. He reports that its scheduled opening is early December.

-Luella’s turkeys rock: Need a turkey for Thanksgiving? I have it on good authority that Luella’s BBQ has the best smoked turkeys in town, and that you’ll never go back once you’ve had one. Nice.

-Neighborhood Toy Store Day: Neighborhood Toy Store Day in Asheville is Nov. 13. Check out the Toy Box, the Dancing Bear Toys and Once Upon a Time for some great local toy shopping.

-Don’t forget Wolfe, Sandburg: A letter to the New York Times – a response to the newspaper’s recent “36 hours in Asheville” tour piece, notes that the writer left out visitations to the homes of iconic writers Wolfe and Sandburg. A good reminder.
