Me and my blog have been getting a little attention lately. Ashvegas was voted best blog by BlogAsheville voters a few weeks ago. And for the second year in a row, Ashvegas was voted best blog by readers of the Mountain Xpress. (Check out Wednesday’s edition for the results of the annual Best of WNC readers’ poll.)
And just this week, the Smoky Mountain News included me in a round-up of mountain bloggers. It was interesting to read about what drives locals to blog. A pithy quote from the write-up:
“Bloggers would say they wish traditional news outlets would be more honest in terms of their biases in coverage,” he adds.
One disappointing aspect of the round-up: it was all white men; no diversity.
I appreciate the love and attention, but rest assured that it’s not going to my head. I hold no illusions that I’m better than anyone else. I’m astounded on a daily basis by the talented people in our region that express themselves through blogs. Amazed./
