Here’s a look at some of what’s going around

-Pack’s Tavern on the verge: Pack’s Tavern is very close to opening up down on Pack Square. Here’s the latest from the Beer Guy:

In another big beer-related story, the new Pack’s Tavern looks to open April 19. But the first event is April 8, when the Asheville Affiliates group hosts a party called Spruce Street Speakeasy, with food, brew and music by the Goodies, to benefit Asheville Community Theatre. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Call 254-1320.

-The Ashvegas nightlife: Two of my favorite night haunts were hoppin’ on a Tuesday night. First, I heard there was a great cigar-and-fedora birthday bash down at the Prospect, a throwdown that only Franzi and Kip could command. And Twitter says the Desoto Lounge was mobbed for a show by the Dum Dum Girls, with Male Bonding on the ticket, too.

-MacDowell Twitter: Asheville’s own starlet, Andie MacDowell, is now on Twitter. And guess what – she’s Twittering about how great Google would be for Asheville. Go figure.

-Disclaimer radio: The latest episode of Asheville Disclaimer Radio News is now posted. Lots of side-splitting noise there.

-Fret Knot’s next episode: Episode 2 of the new Fret Knot Radio Hour podcast is now posted. Check it out.

-Go West, young man: Anybody know any more about the All Go West Fest? It’s set for April 24 in West Asheville and it’s featuring the Booty Band. Sounds like a par-tay.

-Herb festival coming right up: Another sure sign that spring is here – the Asheville Herb Festival is April 30 and May 1 and 2. Love the herb festival!
